Adriana Scherzinger is the Group Head of Captives at Zurich Insurance. Scherzinger is a seasoned (re)insurance and risk management professional with nearly 20 years of insurance industry experience working in various regions around the world, from global to local levels, handling multinational and domestic corporate business.

Previously, Scherzinger worked with Zurich North America as U.S. National Accounts Head of Alternative Risk Solutions; with Zurich Latin America, as regional Head of International Program Business, Commercial Insurance and as Senior Captive Fronting Manager in Switzerland, Spain, Middle East and the Asia Pacific.

Based in Switzerland, Scherzinger has progressively ranked on the Captive Review Power 50 and is an advisory board member on numerous Captives industry councils. She holds an Executive MBA by Fundação Getulio Vargas and the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy.

After graduation from the Brussels University as Master in Law, Bart started to work as an insurance broker for a former Fortis company (Afidif). He then spent about 15 years of his career as an international insurance broker with companies like Willis Towers Watson and Van Breda Risk and Benefits, during which time he obtained a Master in Insurance and Risk Management from the University of Leuven.

In 2012, he joined Eurofins SE, an international life sciences company which provides analytical testing services across multiple industries as their Global Risk and Insurance Manager.

Since May 2017, Bart is heading the Insurance and Risk department at Umicore, a global materials technology and recycling group and was elected in 2024 as president of Belrim, the Belgian Risk and Insurance Management Association.

Camel began his career at Marsh in the Building and Real Estate department, before moving into the world of risk management by joining the Icade group. After 6 years with Icade, he joined the Kiloutou group as Head of Risk and Insurance for 4 years. Before joining the Mobivia group as Chief Legal Officer Business & Risk Management for 7 years. Camel has just joined in February the Petit Forestier group as Group Insurance Director.

Carl Leeman is the Chief Risk Officer of the Katoen Natie group. Katoen Natie operates on a worldwide level as a logistics and engineering supplier to the automotive, petrochemical, fine chemical, consumer goods, and the food industry in 28 countries in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Africa.

Carl is responsible for global commercial operational contracts, legal issues, claim handling, safety, security, insurance, and environmental management.

He is a previous board member of FERMA (European Risk Management Association) and is Chairman of IFRIMA (International Federation of Risk Management Associations). He has written several articles in global publications and engages with national and international communities through his participation in conferences. 

Underwriter Reinsurance since July 2021, driving the expansion of the reinsurance portfolio, particularly in the area of captive employee benefits. Competent management of the reinsurance portfolio, including credit monitoring of portfolio counterparties. Familiar with in the placement of external reinsurance, participating in reporting, rating processes and technical tasks. Previously worked as Business Analyst Reinsurance, collecting and analysing data, supporting planning, budgeting and quarterly reporting. Assisted with Solvency II reporting and reinsurance portfolio management. In previous roles as Internal Auditor, responsible for risk-based audit planning, execution and reporting. Provided advice on audit issues. Focused on risk and asset management and subsidiary audits.

With over 30 years of accounting and insurance experience Elizabeth joined Willis Towers Watson in June 2012 managing a number of captives and insurance companies domiciled in Malta. She was appointed Managing Director of the Malta office in 2016 and Regional Managing Director for the WTW Captive & Insurance Management Solutions, Western Europe in 2018. Elizabeth is experienced in managing the financial and regulatory areas of insurance companies and captives from the delivery of consulting services to the incorporation of the captive through to the ongoing management of the company. Elizabeth sits on a number of Captive Boards in both Malta and Luxembourg

For the past years, Francoise is very much involved in captive studies, captive management, acts as a Board member in various insurance structure or startups dedicated to the insurance market. Former Risk Manager - VP Insurance in the Pharma industry, she also held various positions as CEO and Board Chairwoman of captives and life and non life insurance companies. She was Member of numerous professional associations and was on the Risk Management Honor Roll 2011 presented by Business Insurance at the RIMS. Françoise began her career in the nuclear energy industry as a Technical Engineer and after as a Central Cost Controller.

Heiko Ditzel was appointed a non-executive director of adidas International Re dac (adidas Captive) domiciled in Ireland and Managing Director of adidas Insurance & Risk Consultants GmbH (adidas in-house broker) mid 2018.

Heiko joined adidas in 2010, working at the headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and assumed various position within the Insurance Department and became Senior Director of Risk Finance & Transfer in 2021 leading the non-life and life insurance business worldwide.

Prior to joining adidas, Heiko was an insurance consultant at Funk Gruppe between 2008 and 2010 and started his journey in the insurance industry in 2001 as apprentice at Allianz Life Insurance.

Of Irish origin, Helen obtained her BA degree in Insurance at the University of Limerick, Ireland in 1989. After 2 years as a treaty underwriter at QBE in Ireland she moved to France in 1991 and worked in the Retrocession department of SCOR for 4 years. In 1996, she moved into facultative underwriting for SCOR looking after a wide variety of customers in Industrial risks worldwide such as cement plants, steel industry and mining.

In 2002, she joined PARTNER RE in France as a Treaty and Facultative property underwriter. In 2004, she moved into the major nuclear industrial company AREVA as a Captive Manager for both insurance and reinsurance and as the VP for Insurance for their transmission & distribution subsidiary AREVA T&D and in 2010 became head of insurance for 2 other Business Groups namely Mining and Renewables.

In 2013, she joined Nexans, a leader in cable manufacturing as their Group Insurance Manager and administrator of their reinsurance captive, based in Luxembourg.

With 17 years of insurance experience, Kevin is currently Head of Group Insurance at AstraZeneca, having responsibility for all lines of Insurance within the group. During his time at AstraZeneca, Kevin has led the evolution of the AstraZeneca insurance structure into its current form. The efficient use of insurance captives is key to the success of the AstraZeneca insurance strategy and whilst Kevin is Chairman on both group captives, he continues to push the boundaries, seeking new/innovative and relevant opportunities to increase the already well diversified captive portfolio.

Laura works for Aon in the Isle of Man and is a Director of White Rock Insurance PCC. She is an Associate Actuary with 13+ years’ experience in the insurance industry, leading technical structures and solutions for both life and non-life captives in jurisdictions across the globe. In her role as a Client Service Director, she has managed and facilitated the placement of multinational programmes writing a variety of complex insurance programs, as well as been a part of the incubation of new and emerging risk in the cell captive landscape. As an actuary, Laura has assisted her clients understand and efficiently deploy capital in the ever-changing regulatory world.

Marina is Regional Insurance Manager EMEA at Cargill. She has 13+ years of experience working as part of the Cargill Global Insurance team with businesses worldwide and manages Regional insurances in EMEA for the Cargill Group as well as its Global Marine Cargo Insurance Program, including through the use of the captive. Over time, Marina has been involved in multiple trade projects providing insurance expertise to the Cargill BUs. As part of her role, she is responsible for the management and development of International Insurance Programmes for the Group with respect to cargo (globally) and EMEA (multiple lines). She holds a University degree in Economics, Postgraduate diploma in Maritime Law and is Chartered Insurance Risk Manager of the UK Chartered Insurance Institute as well as Associate in Risk Management of the Institutes, USA.

Matthias Helmbold joined the Insurance and Risk Management Group of DHL in September of 2021. Matthias has 19 years of experience within the employee benefits arena and has worked in actuarial consulting, corporate HR and insurance network roles in Germany, Switzerland, Singapore and the United Kingdom. Matthias’ primary responsibility is managing the global employee benefits and health and wellbeing programme which utilises DHL captive insurance companies applying a breakeven premium pricing strategy. The programme operates in 100+ countries with gross annual premium that exceeds €130m.

Reinsurance Financial Expert possessing 20+ years of experience within the (re-)insurance industry. He is the Head Officer at PEMEX’s captive (re-)insurance since July 2013. His previous roles include Head of Commutations and Retrocessions at AXA, Project Manager for Legacy Business at Winterthur Insurance and Head of Business Development at Credit Suisse eBusiness. Santiago holds two Masters, one in eBusiness and another one in Insurance and Reinsurance. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Bachelor in Marketing and a Bachelor in Economics.

Tomas Andersson, LL. M., Head of Group Insurance and Operational Risk Management at Volvo Cars and Managing Director for Volvo Car Insurance AB. 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and have worked for Volvo Cars 14 years and before that worked as claims adjuster and broker.
